MMS-LA 2017
When the team at the Modern Marketing Summit was looking for Modern Marketers to share their visions for the future, they turned to Canvas’ leadership and clients to help make their 2017 “Cars & Stars” event a huge success. Canvas Worldwide CEO Paul Woolmington kicked the morning off by hosting a fireside chat with Kia Motors America’s Director of Marketing & Communications, Kimberley Gardiner. Kimberley shared the brief history of Kia’s amazing rise to success in the U.S., as well as some of the innovative moves they have made creatively and in media. Paul and Kimberly shared their thoughts on the future of Auto advertising, including Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality that Kia is already employing with great results. Paul & Kimberly wrapped up the chat with a speed round of “Shark Tank,” where the event sponsors had a minute to pitch their company with the chance to earn a meeting with Kimberly.
Later that morning, Mark Brown - Chief Strategy Officer of Canvas - joined a panel on Out of Home and the power of visual storytelling. Among the topics of discussion were the impact and staying power of outdoor advertising, the role of location technology in the making out of home advertising more accountable, and the need for attribution models to account for the influence of offline media on online actions. Next on the dais was Greg Johns, Canvas’ Chief Digital Officer. Greg’s panel tackled the timely topic of brand safety in a world of “fake news” and extremist content. Greg helped lead the call for publishers, advertisers and agencies to all take greater responsibility for creating safer havens for advertising online. Finally, Canvas’ Director of Ad Technology and Platforms, Leisha Bereson, joined a panel on the future role of location data has in an increasingly mobile age.
